The Vosler Young Artists' Studio is pleased to announce A Classical Drawing Workshop for Teens, Ages 12 to 18. Our Summer Workshops have been very successful and we see returning students each year.

June 5-9 Torso - Front of Trunk

June 12-16 Torso - Back of Trunk
This workshop will focus on a practical approach to drawing the torso from the front, including the chest, abdomen, hips, and shoulders. First, students will familiarize themselves with the skeleton and musculature of the trunk by copying simplified diagrams. Next, students will examine Old Master drawings to understand how they applied this basic anatomical knowledge to describe the masses of the human figure clearly and effectively. After learning these simplified forms, students will use them in their own drawings from observation. Study from a plaster cast will help students better understand the orientation of the forms of the torso in three-dimensional space and will introduce them to strategies for communicating believable, expressive poses. Finally, drawing from the live model will offer the students the opportunity to put these lessons into practice.
