In Hillsborough County Public Schools, one of our top objectives is to support the whole child — promoting and implementing physical, emotional, and mental health. This year, we are excited to partner with Hazel Health to offer free, virtual mental health services at home and school to all K-8 schools, middle schools and high schools, and physical health services at home. No insurance is required to take part in Hazel’s telehealth care sessions.
Hazel Health, with consent from a parent or guardian, connects students with licensed, bilingual and culturally competent therapists for virtual counseling appointments. The service can help a student build coping skills for a short-term challenge or act as a bridge until students are successfully connected with longer-term resources.
Hazel Health’s locally licensed mental health therapists can help students with:
• Mood/behavior changes, motivation, grief/loss
• Anxiety, worry, fears
• Social skills, bullying situations, peer & family relationships
• Academic stress
In addition, families that choose to use the free physical health service from home will allow providers to help students virtually with treating or addressing common illness like rashes, common flu/cold symptoms.
The rollout of this service will take place during the first semester, August 10 through October 9. Starting the first week of school, parents or guardians can self-refer students for mental or physical health services from home.
