The Balm Boyette Scrub Nature Preserve is 5,723 acres. The west part of the preserve has a 2 mile hiking trail through scrub habitat.
The preserve's significance extends beyond its recreational use. The preserve is also home to more than 800 acres of intact scrub habitat. This rare and declining habitat supports many protected plant and animal species, many of which cannot survive without it. These species include the Florida golden aster, Florida scrub-jays, indigo snakes, and gopher tortoises.
